About

Since the early 1900’s, organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Jack & Jill, The Urban League, NAACP and 100 Black Men have proactively invested in the collective future of African American males by instilling belief in African culture, scholastic advancement and individual self-efficacy. In continuing this tradition, the Distinguished Men of the PI XI LAMBDA chapter (Salt Lake City) created a college scholarship and mentoring program entitled The Year of the Beau (2013). This 10-month program culminates with an Alpha Beautillion Scholarship Gala on December 8, 2013 at Little America Hotel. Tickets are $50 per entrant. The purpose of the event is to create college scholarship opportunities for six Alpha Beaus who have participated in The Year of the Beau (2013). The program creates positive, mentoring life experiences by facilitating events that foster giving back to the community, brotherhood and cultural validation while preparing them for transitioning from high school to college.

Persons interested in becoming a sponsor or giving donations to the Alpha Beautillion Scholarship Gala please contact Dr. Bryan K. Hotchkins at either apapxl@gmail.com or 405.826.3492.

  1. I am proud of my brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for starting this program in Salt Lake City. I wish I could be in attendance for the Beautillion. I know it will turn out beautifully and I send my love. Keep up the good work.
